Critical reading for the web

Read past the spin.

Caveat reads alongside you and marks the manipulation tactics, loaded language, and missing context in any article — right on the page, as you read it.

How it works

One click, on any article.

  1. i.

    Install the extension

Add Caveat to Chrome or Firefox. Your invite email has the link and a one-minute setup.

  2. ii.

    Read like normal

Open any news article. Caveat spots it and drops a small flag in the corner. It won't analyze until you click.

  3. iii.

    Click the flag

Caveat pulls the text from the page in your browser and returns a full read in a side panel: the patterns it found, the evidence, the loaded language, and who stands to benefit.

A sample report

Sample analysis panel on a news article, showing pattern findings, loaded language, and a grade.
The panel opens beside the article. Every pattern, quote, and loaded phrase links straight back to the sentence it came from — so you can check Caveat's work, not just take its word.
